Ramen Takara has its roots in a small restaurant at the foot of Mount Fuji. This is where our executive chef and owner Yuki grew up, watching her father's back in a busy restaurant loved by locals. Hochinro opened its doors in 1978, when Nobuyuki Yamaguchi, after over 15 years of training at a well established Chinese restaurant saved up just enough to open a humble restaurant with the blessing of his master chef.
Our Browns Bay branch, launched in 2007, carries on the traditions of Hochinro while adopting fresh local ingredients, flavours and Kiwi hospitality.
We take great care in crafting a hearty bowl of ramen starting with our noodles, made on-site everyday, only using quality New Zealand flour, fresh local eggs, salt and water. Our delicate broth is prepared every morning over 3 hours and all of our dishes are cooked from fresh raw ingredients sourced from local suppliers.
