A Legacy of Ramen — From Mount Fuji to Aotearoa

Ramen Takara traces its roots to Hōchinrō, a small ramen shop founded in 1978 at the foot of Mount Fuji by Nobuyuki Yamaguchi. After 15 years training under a master chef in Yokohama’s Chinatown, Nobuyuki opened Hōchinrō with his mentor’s blessing — and quickly earned a loyal following.

That humble shop became a local institution and a source of inspiration for his daughter, Yuki. Today, Yuki carries on the family legacy as executive chef of Ramen Takara.

Since opening in 2007, Ramen Takara has stayed true to its heritage — blending authentic Japanese flavours with locally sourced ingredients and our famous Kiwi hospitality. Every dish is crafted fresh, without MSG or additives, to create an experience all New Zealanders can enjoy.
